At the request of ARCELORMITTAL, KARL HUGO applied its cost-engineering method to the creation and the integration of a coil scrap rewinder and a disposal trolley.

The project was managed by the KARL HUGO Engineering Department. "The advantage for the customer is that we control the entire process ", explains Jean Koninckx, Project Engineer at KARL HUGO."A single contact person will follow the project from the start through to the commissioning of the line." Following an in-depth inspection on site, the team developed some general thoughts regarding the optimisation of the customer's initial request and put forward a solution that was fully tailored to its needs and its constraints. A comprehensive design concept was presented, including well developed technical and budgetary proposals. Open discussions were then held with the customer to finally validate the envisaged technical solution. The team then began to produce the drawings and other documentation required by the EC Machine Directive. The components of the new module were produced and assembled in the workshop, under the supervision of the engineer in charge of the project. "Further thought is given at each stage to ways in which to reduce costs, while at the same time ensuring reliability, performance and controlling maintenance costs", confirms Stephan Hugo CEO - Technical Director. "Maintenance is often a source of hidden costs, such as production line down-time, the number of human interventions and therefore the safety of personnel."
